Over the years, Mike Ocilka’s interests and skill set have led him down a diverse path.

Writer, entrepreneur, and LTC planning advocate, this native yinzer has created this website to provide access to his varied offerings.

Writer

Whether a skit for his 6th Grade History class, a national trade journal article, voluminous marketing and website content, a collection of short stories, or his first book, Finding a Forever Home, Mike loves to write.

Finding A Forever Home, the first in a series, is a story of the lives of shelter dogs from a unique perspective – theirs!

Dealing with the same emotions as humans – joy, disappointment, fear, courage, loss – these talkative canines confront the daily challenges of shelter life and the eternal hope of adoption.

Along with a collection of short stories, based on the prompts of one of his writing groups, Mike is developing a project around the interesting and varied life of Trey Miller, a down-to-earth, contemporary college history professor.

Mike also has expertise in Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) copywriting.  Over the years, he has been published in a national trade magazine and has produced sales letters, articles, web content, and marketing materials for a variety of clients.

The same personal experience with his mother made Mike aware of the changing needs and accommodations necessary for a senior to safely stay in their home.

Mike is co-founder of Seniors Safe At Home which conducts non-medical, in-home safety assessments to assist seniors to maintain and enhance their independence, safety, and dignity, while staying at home.

Through this assessment, Mike provides his clients with information and recommendations, and can help direct them to the resources they need to free them from the anxiety, concern, and worry over a loved one!
